- Beschreibung
- Physics and physicists enjoy a very high regard in the Computer Science community. A simple way to observe the fact from outside are “cool” sounding product names such as TensorFlow, Eigen, Phonon and many more. Yet, one thing one can’t help but notice when speaking with other physicists at Google is a common lack of information prior to their switch: “What can I do with my PhD in XYZ Physics in an Internet company?” Is there anything exciting to do? Is there any research? I joined Google 3 years ago and have worked for most of these in Search. Based on this experience, I’ll try to address some of the questions above and share some mindset adjustments that became necessary in the new environment.
