- Lithium ion batteries (LIBs) present dominant advantages over the former traditional rechargeable batteries, consequently, their development has been very rapid since the early 1990s. Of course, the main performance of LIBs is dependent on their key materials. In this report, I will introduce some latest R & D work in our laboratory on anode materials, cathode materials, electrolyte additives and gel membranes for LIBs. Some materials have been successfully applied into the market, and some is waiting for the pilot test. Of course, to meet the expansion of the market for LIBs in electric vehicles, more R & D activities are needed.
