- Beschreibung
- The cubic intermetallic compound U4Ru7Ge6 exhibits ferromagnetism and small magnetocrystalline anisotropy. This is a rare exception among the uranium compounds. For instance, the hexagonal ferromagnets UPtAl and URhGa exhibit a very large magnetocrystalline nisotropy. We performed FPLO fully relativistic magnetic total energy calculations and obtained the easy magnetic axis for both U4Ru7Ge6 and URhGa in agreement with experimental observations. Further, the calculated magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy (MAE) is in reasonable agreement with MAE estimated from experiment. Finally we present results of polarized neutron diffraction (PND) perfomed on U4Ru7Ge6. The calculated spin and orbital magnetic moments are in reasonable agreement with values derived from the PND experiment. .
