The great challenges of our time – such as climate change\, sustainable
and safe energy\, information processing or combating widespread diseases
  – can only be tackled globally with a long-term perspective and a well-
coordinated use of brain power resources. Around the world\, researchers a
re contributing essential insights to find the right answers. They are oft
en particularly successful when they cooperate across borders – both acr
oss the boundaries of their disciplines and the borders of their national
states. In times of political turmoil\, in particular\, science plays a sp
ecial role as a bridge-builder and mediator. In order to strengthen the
Central European Research Area\, the Free State of Saxony and the Helmhol
tz Association\, in close cooperation with the European Research Council (
ERC)\, will co-host the first European Forum for Science\, Research and In
 novation on June 25\, 2019. The Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR
) will organise this event in Dresden. Major contributors to the distingui
shed program will be grant recipients of the ERC from the Czech Republic\,
Poland\, and Germany. Together\, we want to showcase the progress that
international cooperation can facilitate in a prospering European researc
h and development region. It is\, moreover\, our intention to strengthen i
nteraction between Saxony\, Poland and the Czech Republic in research and
 development. Links to <a href=\"https://www.sri-forum.eu/?s=program\">P
