- Beschreibung
- Layered materials have consistently served as a fertile ground for discovering novel solid-state phenomena, especially when it comes to exploring new collective states of interacting electrons. Notable examples of such phenomena include unconventional superconductivity, charge density waves, Kitaev-quantum spin liquids, and other intriguing topological states of matter. In this presentation, I will specifically focus on two cases: IrTe2 and RuCl3, which both exhibit a complex coupling of electrons and lattice. By employing state-of-the-art X-ray diffraction techniques, we investigate the lattice structure of these materials as a function of hydrostatic and, in one case, biaxial pressure. Through a combination of advanced structure determination techniques and cutting-edge theoretical modeling, we gain important new insights into the interactions that drive the collective electronic behavior in both IrTe2 and RuCl3.
