- Beschreibung
- . We present the advancements in nanostructured ferroelectrics, focusing on the discovery of novel topological polarization structures. We challenge the initial interpretation of these structures - vortices, skyrmions, merons, and others - which were analogized to magnetic systems based on real-space vector field topology. However, this approach overlooks the pivotal role of long-range electrostatic forces in ferroelectricity. By presenting a new topological framework, topological hydrodynamics of ferroelectricity, which is centered on the electrostatic essence of ferroelectricity. We revise recent trends and observed structures in the field. Our analysis categorizes these complex structures into fundamental formations: vortices and Hopfions. The emergence of Hopfions is particularly notable for introducing chirality into confined ferroelectric systems, offering a richer understanding of these materials. .
