Beschreibung
Modification of the micro/nanostructure in optical microcavities can significantly influence the behavior of light, leading to the occurrence of new optical phenomena and promoted functionalities. In previous reports, several micro/nanostructures such as plasmonic nanostructures and point defects have been used to alter optical microcavities, demonstrating effective control over the optical modes therein. Here, we propose three types of micro/nanostructures, i.e. spiral plasmonic lattice chain, moiré superlattice, and strained photonic crystals, for the manipulation of optical modes in nanomembrane formed whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) microcavities. These designed hybrid systems are expected to reveal novel optical behaviors that go beyond the capabilities of traditional WGM microcavities. The spiral plasmonic lattice chain will be designed and fabricated along the cavity axis for the study of chiral resonant modes and optical spin-orbit coupling. Carefully aligned moiré superlattice on the cavity surface can form localized resonant modes with photonic flat-bands, providing a novel platform for studying optical coupling between zero- and three-dimensional confinements. Additionally, we introduce the concept of pseudomagnetic fields in WGM resonators by applying strain to the photonic lattices on the cavity surface, which may enable new functionalities such as mode selection and the photonic quantum Hall effect. These research works hold significant interest for both fundamental and applied studies, opening new avenues for advanced photonic and optoelectronic devices.
