- Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites have attracted significant attention as promising materials for next-generation photovoltaic applications due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties, including high absorption coefficients, long charge-carrier lifetimes, and tunable bandgaps. However, despite the remarkable evolution of their performance in laboratory settings, the scalability and reproducibility of perovskite thin film fabrication remain critical challenges for their commercialization. In this work, we utilize magnetron sputtering, an advanced physical vapor deposition technique, to fabricate methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI₃) perovskite thin films. This method offers a controlled, scalable, and industrially appealing approach to material deposition. In contrast to established sputtering procedures, we explore an unconventional two-step approach that greatly reduces total fabrication time and complexity. We conduct detailed characterization of the deposited perovskite films, including structural, optical, and electrical analyses, to systematically optimize sputtering parameters. This approach enables the production of high-quality films with controlled stoichiometry and uniformity. Our findings demonstrate that this two-step sequential sputtering process is a viable method for the deposition of hybrid perovskite films, providing insights into the process-structure-performance relationships critical for advancing perovskite-based photovoltaic technologies and paving the way towards the large-scale production of efficient and sustainable photovoltaic technologies.
