Bulk-boundary correspondence of non-Hermitian systems with translational invariance breaking

- In this talk, I will present our recent work on bulk-boundary correspondence in non-Hermitian systems without translational invariance. I will first introduce the modified generalized Brillouin zone theory that captures the influence of disorder, magnetic effects [1], and non-orientability [2] on the non-Hermitian skin effect. This framework reveals how the skin effect interacts with disorder or magnetic effects, and how a Möbius strip geometry alters the skin modes behavior. Having extended the applicability of bulk-boundary correspondence to non-Hermitian systems without translational symmetry, I will then turn to our studies about topological states in non-Hermitian systems. By introducing real-space topological invariances, we study the disorder-induced phase transitions in non-Hermitian topological systems, and discover the non-Hermitian topological Anderson insulator [3] and higher-order topological Anderson insulator [4]. Finally, we propose an experimental scheme for detecting the Chern number in non-Hermitian Chern insulators based on the distribution of split subbands under a magnetic field [5]. References: [1] H.
