- Beschreibung
- I will discuss Open Source tools designed to facilitate modern biological research. The application examples will include image stitching, processing of multi angle microscopy data, deconvolution, registration of serial section microscopy data and visualisation of terabyte sized datasets. All these tools are available and actively developed under the Fiji (Fiji Is Just ImageJ) platform for Open Source biological image analysis. I will discuss our vision of how the productive collaboration between biology and computer science research communities could work in the exciting and dynamically growing area of biological imaging.
Pavel Tomancak is a Research Group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Dresden. He did his PhD at the EMBL Heidelberg at the laboratory of Dr. Anne Ephrussi in 1999. From 2000 to 2004 he had been a Postdoc at the Dept. of Molecular and Cell Biology of the University of California in Berkeley at the laboratory of Dr. Gerald M. Rubin. - Links
