 s at providing a rather detailed discussion on inverse positive matrices. 
 For this purpose\, certain basic results on nonnegative matrices will be s
 urveyed. Recent extensions of results on inverse positivity to the case of
  the space of real symmetric matrices\, mainly in the context of semidefin
 ite linear complementarity problems will form the second part. The third p
 art will detail certain generalizations to the case of nonnnegativity of t
 he Moore-Penrose generalized inverse. This discussion will include a rathe
 r comprehensive account of the Moore-Penrose inverse both for the matrix c
 ase and for the case of Hilbert space operators. Some new results on inver
 se positivity of Banach space operator intervals will form the last part o
 f this series. Certain open problems also will be posed.
