Beschreibung
Mainly due to social and professional networks, graphs have regained a lot of popularity in the past 5 years. With their irregular structure and unpredictable performance, they are a nightmare for parallel systems and a serious challenge for distributed systems. In this talk, we sketch the landscape of large scale graph processing platforms as it stands today, pointing out its peaks and valleys. We provide examples of interesting platforms, discuss their performance and programmability, and make recommendations for their usability. We overview the challenges of benchmarking large scale graph processing platforms, and propose a systematic way to tackle them. We conclude by identifying those gaps in the landscape that lead to promising new directions of research.
Ana Lucia Varbanescu is an assistant professor at University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She obtained her PhD in 2010 from Delft University of Technology, and continued as a PostDoc researcher at VU University Amsterdam and Delft University of Technology. In 2013, she received the MacGillavry fellowship from University of Amsterdam. From 2007 till 2014, she was a visiting researcher at IBM T.J.Watson (USA), NVIDIA (USA), BSC (Spain), and Imperial College of London (UK). Her research interests include HPC, parallel programming, performance analysis and prediction, and big data analytics.
