SUMMARY:Symmetries and topology in quantum field theories and hydrodynamics
: from Weyl semi-metals to cold atoms

 n Name: MPI-PKS (Room 1D1)\n Street: Nöthnitzer Straße 38\n City: 011

ss recent developments in effective field theory descriptions of physical
systems\, namely conformal field theories and quantum hydrodynamics. I wil
l start by showing how to include parity-breaking effects in hydrodynamics
\, relate them to quantum anomalies and derive appropriate partition funct
ions. I will discuss possible applications to Weyl semi-metals and coral p
lasmas. In the next step I will consistently include dissipative effects i
n the hydrodynamic partition functions and show how it leads to additional
(super)symmetries. As an example I will present the Langevin dynamics. Fi
nally I will review recent developments in the conformal field theories in
D>2 and the so-called bootstrap approach. I will discuss two applications
: the Ising model and fermions at unitarity.
