Title: "Multi-functional Nano-therapeutic Systems for the Advanced Cancer and Other Disorders"
July, 11, 2017, 10:00, Konferenzsaal
ABSTRACT: Cancers, mycobacterium borne diseases as well as some other disorders need multiple drug administration with longer duration of therapy. Especially the advanced stages of breast cancer, prostate cancer, head and neck cancer etc. needs to be treated through multiple or combined drug therapy. Usually such chemotherapy involves separate administration of drugs for prolonged period of therapy. Use of multiple functional group nano-polymers was explored to deliver combination of drug(s) and specific siRNA. The delivery of such combination can be prolonged using multifunctional nano drug carriers such as dendrimers, polymeric micelles etc. as controlled and sustained drug delivery vehicle. In the two separate set of study protocols it was attempted to deliver (i) combination of two anti-tubercular drugs utilizing polymeric micelles for mycobacterium tuberculosis and; (ii) combination of an anticancer drug and siRNA using PAMAM dendrimers for advanced breast cancer. The combined delivery in both the protocols was based on encapsulation of one and conjugation of another bioactive moiety to the nano-polymeric carriers.
