- Description
- Predictive computational modeling has the potential to accelerate experimental biology through the use of physical simulations that can be used to screen the viability of hypotheses prior to investing resources into experimental validation; fishing in the sea of hypotheses with computational radar before casting an experimental line. This talk will cover modeling work that predicted mechanisms of asymmetric cell division in the development of Zebrafish vasculature, image analysis methods for complex vascular networks, and new 3D visualization tools in the Fiji ecosystem. We will conclude by discussing the future of image-based modeling in systems biology, where microscopy images feed simulations that serve as decision support tools for experimental design.
