- Description
- Intriguing new phases of matter have made recently their appearance in the physics literature. These phases have fracton excitations -- ``point like objects'' that have ``fractional mobility''. These phases show similar properties as topological phases [degeneracies depending on topology of the underlying manifold] but only much richer as we will discover. Fracton physics seems not only connected to all the buzz words in condensed matter physics but also things like gravity, duality to elasticity, etc. The idea is to initiate a series of discussions on this topic with the aim of researching some of the key open questions of this emerging field. Attempt will be made to keep the first discussion at an elementary level accessible graduate students.
