Abstract: In this presentation, I shall illustrate some differences between inorganic and organic semiconductors, such as the values of the exchange and coulomb energy, and I will demonstrate how this impacts on the photophysical processes in devices such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and solar cells (OSCs).

Short bio: Anna Köhler, FRSC, received her PhD in 1996 from the University of Cambridge, UK. After Research Fellowships at Cambridge, she moved to Germany for professorships, first in 2003 to Potsdam and in 2007 to Bayreuth. Her research is concerned with photophysical processes in organic semiconductors, notably the study of energy and charge transfer, exciton dissociation and intermolecular interactions. She leads the international Research Training Group OPTEXC involving Bayreuth and Melbourne, as well as a European Doctoral Training Network TADFsolution. Her research was awarded with the Max-Born-Prize, the Frederic-Krebs- Lectureship and election to the Bayrische Akademie der Wissenschaften.
