- Description
- The school, organized within the European Initial Training Network Correlated Multielectron Dynamics in Intense Light Fields (CORINF), is open to participants from both inside and outside the network. It will introduce its participants to strong field and attosecond science and the emerging field of imaging dynamics of single molecules with the combination of sub-femtosecond temporal and sub-Angstrom spatial resolution. The school will emphasize the basic physical ideas of using intense infrared and or XUV/ X-ray light to gain insight into the structure and ultrafast dynamics of atoms, molecules and clusters, as well as the key theoretical tools and challenges in bringing these basic ideas to fruition. Lecture topics will include: - Overview of strong field and attosecond science, - Imaging single molecule dynamics at sub-femtosecond timescale: >Approaches using intense infrared fields: basic ideas and challenges *High harmonic spectroscopy *Time resolved electron diffraction and holography >Approaches using X-ray radiation: basic ideas and challenges -Theoretical methods in strong-field and attosecond science, >Analytical approaches in strong-field physics >Numerical methods for single active electron >Numerical methods for multi-electron dynamics >Interfacing with quantum chemistry The school will include tutorial lectures and hands-on training exercises, where several groups will work on specific problems, some of them still unsolved.
