- Description
- Topological spin textures like skyrmions and hopfions have emerged as promising candidates for low-power spintronic devices. However, stabilizing these textures at room temperature remains challenging. In this talk, we present the first observation of robust hopfion-skyrmion assemblies at room temperature and zero field in EuS-Bi2Se3-EuS trilayer heterostructures. Using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy, we directly visualize triangular skyrmion lattices encircled by hopfion rings. Polarized neutron reflectometry and SQUID magnetometry confirm room-temperature interfacial ferromagnetism. Micromagnetic modeling reveals that the interplay between Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions, uniaxial anisotropy, and geometric confinement stabilizes these topological textures. We demonstrate that the skyrmion-hopfion assemblies can be tuned by varying the island size and magnetic field. Our results provide insight into the fundamental mechanisms governing topological spin textures at ferromagnet-topological insulator interfaces. The ability to create and manipulate room-temperature skyrmions and hopfions opens new avenues for topological spintronics, potentially enabling energy-efficient memory and logic devices. We will discuss the implications of our findings for developing practical spintronic applications based on topologically protected magnetic states.
