- Description
- Our goal is to realize a breakthrough superconducting high-frequency electron gun capable of continuously generating relativistic electron beams. By building a superconducting RF electron gun in a Nb3Sn superconducting cavity, we can achieve continuous operation with high cooling efficiency and a simplified system. Since this electron gun can accelerate electrons up to the relativistic region, the superconducting accelerator can be connected downstream to realize a compact and continuously operated relativistic high-intensity electron beam source. This enables the realization of a compact and continuously operated relativistic high-intensity electron beam. The new accelerator is expected to have a great impact on science, medicine, society, and industry by enabling a wide range of applications, from large-scale cutting-edge accelerators such as a free electron laser with 100% duty to mass production of medical RI using an electron accelerator, high-intensity portable X-ray and gamma-ray sources, neutron sources, muon sources, and so on.
