Description
Topological photonics is a rapidly advancing field, offering exciting possibilities to control light by engineering the band structure of specially designed photonic crystals. Inspired by topological insulators, topological photonic crystals can support unidirectional, circularly polarized light transport along their edges, protected by topological robustness. Previous research employed semiconductor quantum dots to generate circularly polarized light, operating in the near-infrared spectral range and requiring low-temperature conditions. Chiral perovskites, which can emit circularly polarized light, open new avenues for developing topological photonic systems, particularly in the visible spectrum and at room temperature. In this talk, I will discuss the design and fabrication of topological photonic crystals supporting circularly polarized edge modes in the visible spectrum. Chiral perovskites were integrated onto the fabricated topological photonic crystals to investigate their photoluminescence and optical coupling with the photonic structures. This work paves a way toward compact and efficient topological photonic devices operating in the visible spectrum, showing significant potential for applications in topological lasing, quantum technologies, and integrated optics.
