Description
The concept of chirality and the understanding of its role in chemical and biological systems is of great importance. Chirality gives the possibility of generating chiro-optical, and spin-dependent responses, which are interesting for quantum computing, spintronics, and imaging. The introduction of chiral organic spacers has been used to trigger chiroptical and spintronic properties in metal halide perovskites, which is a low-cost material for photovoltaic, optoelectronic, and photonic applications. One should note, that a comprehensive understanding of structure formation and the ability to control phase purity in such materials have yet to be developed. Nevertheless, spin-coating, which was used to form such structures previously, is highly wasteful, inherently unsuitable for upscaling and excludes the fine deposition control, meaning that other methods must be developed for manufacturing of low-dimensional chiral structures. Lately, the research effort invested in the vapor deposition of halide perovskites has been growing quickly, especially where the vaporization is achieved using heating. This type of deposition methods is known as thermal evaporation (TE). Herein, the TE is applied for the low-dimensional film deposition and the influence of processing conditions on the phase purity, microstructure, and chiroptical properties of chiral 2D perovskites is studied. The impact of the thermal annealing conditions on the formation of 2D and 1D structures is presented. These studies offer valuable insights into film formation processes of low-dimensional chiral perovskites, offering strategies for the control of their phase purity via a scalable, industrially relevant method.
