- Description
- This talk introduces the core principles of deep learning and discusses when its application is truly worthwhile. We will explore how neural networks learn hierarchical representations from data, what sets deep learning apart from traditional machine learning, and how data scale and model complexity define its strengths and limitations. The focus will be on recognizing situations where deep learning provides clear advantages, such as handling unstructured or high-dimensional data, uncovering hidden relationships, or enabling generative modeling, and where simpler approaches remain more effective. The goal is to give an intuitive, balanced overview of what deep learning can (and cannot) do, helping to understand when it should be applied in practice. .
