- Description
- So-called Smart Meters are an essential part of a Smart Grid infrastructure. Tasks of these Smart Meters are, e.g., to gather energy metering values, to process them, and to transmit resulting information to other entities within the Smart Grid. As energy metering data can exhibit many details of living habits of persons living in the metered place, these data is considered privacy-relevant and therefore has to be protected like other personal data. Within the last year, various approaches for protecting privacy of metering data have been published. Among them, promising approach for privacy-friendly billing is [1]. Further, for application in Germany an approach to Smart Meters has been drafted in TR-03109 by the BSI, currently in version 0.50.
