- This thesis explores the execution of object-oriented code in embedded execution environments. It presents established and derives new approaches for the imple-mentation of high-level object-oriented functionality, which enable a performant code execution while practicing an economic use of system resources. A special emphasis is laid on the fact that the architectural means used in the implemen-tation induce predictable costs to the execution time of an application. This thesis concentrates on a few optimization levers including the bytecode pre-processing, the efficient handling of interface types as well as the exploitation of hardware concurrency by parallel autonomous functional modules. All of these are in active use on the SHAP platform.
