 s induces the means of understanding the complexity of logical relations e
 xisting among artefacts that are created during software development. In t
 urn\, this provides the necessary knowledge for reasoning about the qualit
 y of software. With the inception of Model-Driven Software Engineering\, t
 he advantage of generating traceability information automatically\, eases 
 the problem of creating and maintaining trace links\, which is a labor int
 ensive task\, when done manually. Yet\, there is still a wide range of ope
 n challenges in existing traceability solutions regarding the effort to ac
 hieve the automatic generation of trace links. Secondly\, an existing tran
 sformation engine is not always given in model-based development upon whic
 h trace links may be leveraged through the integral transformation mapping
 .   This talk gives an overview on existing traceability solutions and the
 ir shortcomings in Model-Driven Software Engineering. Furthermore\, a gene
 ric traceability framework is proposed for tackling the above-mentioned pr
 oblems. Essentially\, this framework holds for the augmentation of arbitra
 ry model transformation approaches with a traceability mechanism. Addition
 ally\, it incorporates a language-agnostic model matching framework allowi
 ng for the generation of trace links in the absence of a transformation en
