SUMMARY:Wüseke: Observing cytoplasmic interactions of centrosome proteins
 using FCS
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Oliver Wüseke\nInstitute of Speaker: MPI-CBG\, Hyman
 lab\, Dresden\, Germany\nTopics:\nBiologie\n Location:\n Name: MPI-CBG (A
 uditorium (small half))\n Street: Pfotenhauerstraße 108\n City: 01307 D
 resden\n Phone: +49 351 210-0\n Fax: +49 351 210-2000\nDescription: Prot
eins and their interactions are of central importance in biology\, e.g. in
every signalling cascade. Fluorescence (Cross-)Correlation Spectroscopy (
F(C)CS) offers the possibility to investigate proteins and their interacti
ons live\, both in vitro and in vivo. To achieve that\, F(C)CS analyzes th
e movement of fluorescent particles into and out of a focal volume at a co
nfocal microscope and can deduce several parameters from this analysis. (1
) FCS measures the mobility and concentration of a fluorescently tagged mo
lecule of interest and thereby provides information about protein concentr
ations and associations. (2) FCCS uses two\, fluorescently tagged molecule
s and yields quantitative data describing the interaction of these molecul
es (dissociation constant). In the BioDIP seminar we will span the range f
rom the investigation of protein complexes in solution to measurements of
protein interaction in the membrane of the living embryo. If you are curio
us to learn how you can use F(C)CS for probing the dynamics/interactions o
f your protein of interest\, join us for the seminar and the discussion af
 terwards.
