- Description
- We demonstrated a magnetoresistive emulsion analyzer which possesses the functionalities of counting, analysis and sorting. One of the key aspects of the device is its multiparametric analytic capability, which can be applied to the study of magnetic flow cytometry and used to predict droplet populations produced by different flow parameters and to evaluate flow parameters. We further moved towards the realization of an integrated droplet-based magnetofluidic platform. The platform allows multiple complex experimental steps to be performed for droplet-based microfluidics. We proposed the concept of magnetic barcoding of droplets with magnetic nanoparticles and using GMR sensors as a decoding setup, which is distinct from conventional optical barcodes and decoding devices. The deployment of magnetic barcodes extends the dynamic range of conventional optical method and is well suited for high throughput screening process without the loss of measurement sensitivity. Technology commercialization prefers a device with the possibility of large area production with enhanced mechanical stability. We further brought the platform on to a flexible foil and realized a highly flexible magnetoresistive analytic device. The flexible microfluidic device was demonstrated to be full operational with minimum bending radius of 2 mm and is promising for the realization of multifunctional, smart microfluidic devices for biomedical, pharmaceutical and chemical applications.
