- If you would like to talk to him, please get in contact with the hosts! Thank you.About Dr. Francois Paquet-Durand: Dr. Francois Paquet-Durand has made seminal contribution on elucidating the mechanisms of neuronal cell death, in particular in the context of a set of hereditary degenerative diseases of the retina, collectively referred to as Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP).RP eventually causes blindness and is to date untreatable. Contrary to common belief, in RP alternative, non-apoptotic cell death mechanisms appear to play a preeminent role. In his recent and future work he wants to improve the understanding of these mechanisms to develop novel treatments for these diseases.Currently, he is also coordinating a EU-FP7 project on drug development (www.drugsford.eu).Publications: 1.
