- Description
- Activities of Fuel Cycle Chemistry Department, ÚJV Řež, a. s. (R. Červinka) Department activities cover a range of projects of research and developments (Carbon Capture & Storage Systems, Remediation of U mining sites, Nanomaterials). However, the main aim is to support the Radioactive Waste Repository Authority (SÚRAO) in the operation of existing radioactive waste repositories and in the preparation and implementation of the Deep Geological Repository Concept in the Czech Republic. Part of the presentation is devoted to colloidal particles and nanomaterials. The dynamic column experiments performed by ÚJV Řež, a. s. (K. Videnská) The transport of contaminant in porous media is studied by dynamic experiments in column set-up. This arrangement provides an approximation to real conditions, existing in the environment. The method is based on the migration of studied radionuclide through crushed material in the column. The transport is illustrated by experimental breakthrough curve. The values of transport parameters such as the sorption and desorption retardation coefficients (R) or sorption and desorption distribution coefficients (Kd) are calculated from the breakthrough curves.
