- Description
- General Game Playing deals with the construction of agent programs that are able to play games they have never seen before. Upon receiving the game rules, the agent has a few minutes time before the match starts. Human intervention is not allowed. The underlying language for game rules (GDL) allows to encode all deterministic games with complete information. Since this class of games is so diverse, there is no function for state evaluation that could effectively guide standard game tree search such as Minimax. Instead, the agent has to autonomously construct such an evaluation function. This process requires the agent to analyze rules, detect features and combine these features into an evaluation function. In this talk we will analyze the evaluation function of other game-playing agents. Furthermore, we discuss how such an evaluation function can be constructed automatically, such that it satisfies the narrow time constraints while providing high quality state values.
