- Description
- I will discuss recent developments in effective field theory descriptions of physical systems, namely conformal field theories and quantum hydrodynamics. I will start by showing how to include parity-breaking effects in hydrodynamics, relate them to quantum anomalies and derive appropriate partition functions. I will discuss possible applications to Weyl semi-metals and coral plasmas. In the next step I will consistently include dissipative effects in the hydrodynamic partition functions and show how it leads to additional (super)symmetries. As an example I will present the Langevin dynamics. Finally I will review recent developments in the conformal field theories in D>2 and the so-called bootstrap approach. I will discuss two applications: the Ising model and fermions at unitarity.
